BACK TO THE COURSE

Stage two, session one

The mental model

You are not learning a tool, you are taking on an agent. Here is what one is made of, and how it learns.

2.05

The runbooks, how it does each job

The shelf, one runbook for each job.

A runbook is how a job is done here, written down once.

When something has to be done in the same order or the same way every time, you write the steps down, and in Claude Code that file is called a skill.

skills/catch-up-inbox/SKILL.md

Catch up the inbox, every morning or whenever I say catch up.

  1. 1Read the last month of mail and the calendar.
  2. 2Update the CRM in this folder with anything new.
  3. 3List what I was asked and never answered.
  4. 4Draft the replies I owe, and send nothing.

The name and when to use it at the top, and under it the steps, read only when the job matches.

It only opens a skill when the job in front of it matches, so you can have as many as you like.

The brief is how it behaves on every job, and a skill is how one job is done.

Stage six shows you how to write your first one.
