Getting something genuinely useful out of the AI tool your work chose for you

Most people did not pick Copilot. Their company locked down everything else and handed it over with no training, which is why so many people have quietly decided AI is a bit rubbish. It is usually not the tool, it is that nobody ever showed them the parts that matter.

These are the guides for that. Short, practical, and written so you could take one into work and hand it round.

Quick Response or Think Deeper

There is a button in the top left of every Copilot chat that says Auto, and it decides how much thinking your question deserves. It is wrong in both directions: you wait ages for an essay you never wanted, or you get something shallow back on the question that actually mattered. What the two modes do, which one to use for which job, and a prompt that sorts your own week.
